Established by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Fok Ying Tung Research Institute (FYTRI) in Nansha, Guangzhou, aims to be a prominent research platform and an education base in the Pearl River Delta(PRD) Region. Working with government, industry and other research institutes and leading universities in the Mainland, FYTRI hopes to contribute to the technological advancement and economic development of the region.
Since the foundation on 25 Jan 2007, the School has established 9 research centers/projects and 2 joint labs by now , which focused in four areas: Internet of things, Advanced Manufacturing & Automation, Environment & Sustainable Development, and Advanced Engineering Materials. And the Scholl also offers two types of postgraduate programs, taught programs and research-based programs, leading to the degrees of Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) respectively.
HKUST ranks 1st in the Asia’s top 200 University and 40th in the World’s Top 200 Universities (QS, 2011) and the 41st in the World’s Top 200 Universities in Technology (Times Higher Education Supplement, 2010).

广州市香港科大霍英东研究院是香港科技大学在广州南沙设立的一所研究院，致力成为一个珠三角地区突出的研究平台和教育基地。霍英东研究院将携手企业、国内领先的大学及其他研究机构一起，为珠江三角洲地区的科技进步和经济发展作贡献。
自2007年1月25日建院至今，研究院已相继成立了9个研究中心/专项，2个联合实验室，集中在物联网、先进制造与自动化、先进工程材料、环境与可持续发展四个研究领域。与此同时，我们也提供两个研究生课程，一类以研究为主的哲学硕士(MPhil)项目，另一类为授课式的理学硕士(MSc)项目。
