Structural Biochemistry
Postdoctoral Research position (Ref: N40605)
Salary will be in the range £26,629 – £31,798 per annum dependent upon experience
Fixed Term contract for up to 2 Years
An opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the laboratory of Dr Nic Harmer on a grant funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), available immediately. You will join an up and coming research group exploring the molecular fundamentals of the virulence of Burkholderia pseudomallei. This organism is a significant developing world pathogen and a potential bioterror agent. You will be investigating three novel virulence related proteins from this organism; and will use a range of techniques to elucidate their structure and function, and their contribution to B. pseudomallei infection.
This opportunity is suitable for those with a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry or molecular biology. Expertise in DNA cloning, protein expression and purification, and protein biochemistry will be essential. A strong background in structural biology, or experience in microbiology would also be very beneficial. You should be a confident, independent scientist with a broad knowledge of the discipline and contemporary research methods in biochemistry.
