Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a 12 month fixed-term contract for a Postdoctoral Researcher position to work with Professors Ciaran O¡¯ Neill and Eamon O¡¯Shea in the School of Business and Economics at NUI Galway. The work with Professor O¡¯Neill will involve a comprehensive assessment of the cost of obesity on the island of Ireland funded by Safefood. The work with Professor O¡¯Shea will incorporate ongoing analysis of the cost effectiveness of community care for older people in Ireland, including estimation of the economic costs and benefits of new technologies. Post Profile The candidate must have first class analytical and statistical skills, with a strong background in health economics training and research, particularly in respect of health care evaluation and contingent valuation. Knowledge & Experience ¨C Essential • A PhD (or awaiting Viva) in economics or cognate discipline. • Good evidence of strong quantitative skills in general and econometric methods in particular • Clear evidence of good inter-personal skills • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are essential for this position.
